How to make a Photogram? To make a photogram it's very simple, because you won't be needing a camera. Firstly, you would need a photographic blank piece of paper, and a few objects that you probably like. Make sure that the piece of paper, is underneath a enlarger or a focused light source that you can turned off or on. Afterwards, you would then place the objects in areas that you're satisfied with, then switch the enlarger on and let the paper expose to light for about 5 seconds. By letting it expose to the light for less or more time can result in changing the darkness of the background of the shadows.
What are Photograms? A photogram is a photographic image however, made by not using a camera. You would place the objects directly on to the light sensitive paper, photographic paper, and then exposing it to light. Your results would usually come out negatively, it would also show different shades of tone, it depends on the transparency of the object, any areas that haven't received any light would then come out white. This technique is usually called cameraless photography. It had been used by the artist, Man Ray. Other artist have also experimented with this technique such as, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Christian Schad (also known as Schadographs), Imogen Cunningham and Pablo Picasso.
Man Ray Photograms: I looked this image by Man Ray, and in my opinion I think that the image's really creative, and my favourite work by Man Ray. The image is quite weird, and different. This image makes the viewer question, why has he made this sort of photogram? Who is the woman in it?
