Group Work - Cropped Images.
.First of all, we watched 20 mins of 'Everybody Street', after watching it we had to answer some questions about street photographs. We were then given the chance to go out of the classroom and take 12 different photographs. We were allowed to take pictures of people inside classrooms, this was easier for us because, it allowed us to go out there and take photographs in the moment, what really happens around in school. It gave us a little more of freedom. But, it's also about taking the risks, really going out there because, "the deeper you go the better pictures you will end up taking". Although, it wasn't as easy as it looked, going up to people and asking to take photographs of them seemed a little bit hard and scary. There were loads of moments that I could have captured however, I was too nervous and scared to take the risk. Overall, it was a fun and exciting opportunity because, we were doing individual work, so we got to be independent and unique with ourselves and the work.
Evaluation
I took this photograph from a iPod, this image has been taken of sixth formers in a art classroom. This is probably my most successful image because, it really shows street photography, in my opinion. It captures the everyday life. The lighting of the image is clear and bright, it shows mostly every details in the image, clearly. It shows a range of different activities that are happening in one image. The depth of field is quite long, as you can see what's happen in the distance. The reason why this image is probably better than the rest is because, I have been able to go at least a bit inside of the classroom and capture the moment, I have been able to fit everything in place. But, as soon as you look at the image the first thing you would see would probably see is the bin, which is distracting. As I want the people to be the main subject.

I quite like this image the most because it shows more objects and it also has a wide depth of field. The photograph is quite dark, so the lighting isn't so bright either. The atmosphere of the image is that is shows a dark, gloomy winter evening.
If I was to re-take the same photograph, I would probably change the angle of the image, by doing that the viewer would be able to see more objects in the image.

WWW: I have successfully managed to capture photographs to do with diagonals.
EBI: If I was to take the images again, then I would capture more people in my photographs. I quite like Eric Kim's photography (the two people in the slideshow), if I also had the chance to probably go out of my current location and capture people like that, then I would try and take some more images with people in the photograph. |
Using the rule of thirds, I have taken a series of images however, we weren't allowed to use the rule of thirds, and had to take images that didn't have that use the rule of thirds technique.
Final Images + Evaluation
Focusing on the idea of street photography, I have chosen a few images as my final piece. First of all, the first image was taken during the Tate Modern Trip, I like the way the image is in black and white, I would prefer it to stay that way rather than changing it. I also like the ray of the sunlight coming in the image, at the top. It automatically makes it eye-catching, and with the man at the back, it also becomes more interesting as it looks deeper into the photograph. The contrast between light and dark is interesting, as the background is quite dark, whereas in the foreground there is a strong light. With the second image, it is an example of cropping because, you can't see the full image. The photograph doesn't show the whole thing, it only shows the bodies of the people. I like this image, the high contrast on colours, makes it interesting but with the sunlight effect, in the top right hand corner, makes it even more eye-catching. Similarly, with both images so far, there is light coming from a certain direction, creating more effect to the image. With the third image, This image is considered as an walk on by image because it captures the moment. I quickly captured the photograph, as the man was walking, without thinking. I later then looked at the image, and it seemed interesting. Like where could he be going, or why is the image taken in that angle. I also like the effect used in this image, it goes well with the image. With the fourth image, I quite like this image, because of the high use of effect, the image has a strong effect, making it stand out more. Also the way the image has shadows in it, is also really interesting and it just got me looking. The shadows, in this photograph look eye-catching, in my opinion if there was no shadow effect in this photograph, it wouldn't be as interesting as it is now. What went well with these set of images is that, keeping in mind the idea of street photography, I have taken images outside instead of the indoors. This shows exploring more places. Also there are formal elements that are common in each image. For example, in all of the images there are shadows.
